Ibn Battuta on Osman Gazi the son of Ertugrul.
He said talking about Sultan of Bursa:
The Sultan of this (state) is Ikhtiyar ud din Orkhan bak the son of Sultan Osman Jiq (Osmancık in turkish meaning Osman the little). He was greatest sultans among the sultans of Turkman… His (Orkhan’s) father (Osman) was the man who won the city of Bursa from the hands of Roman army. His grave is situated in the masjid of this city. Previously it was the church of Christians. They say that he (Osman) besieged the city of Bretek for about twenty years and died before its conquest and then his son (Orkhan) who we have mentioned above surrounded it for twelve years, and he conquered it. I met him (Orkhan) and he sent me a lot of dirhams, then we traveled to the city of Yaznik
