Allah says in al Araaf verse 80.

(And (remember) Lut, when he said to his people: “Do you commit lewdness such as none preceding you has committed in all of the nations) (81. “Verily, you practice your lusts on men instead of women. Nay, but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds.”) 82. And the answer of his people was only that they said: “Drive them out of your town, these are indeed men who want to be pure!”)

 

a) They were the first ones ever who started this filth.

Amr bin Dinar commented on;

{ ما سبقكم بها من أحد من العالمين } قال: ما نزا ذكر على ذكر حتى كان قوم لوط

(“…as none preceding you has committed in all of the nations.”) “Never before the people of Lut did a male have sex with another male.”

[ ذم الملاهي لابن أبي الدنيا no. 159 the researcher of the book said the chain is authentic)

 

b) They first started anal intercourse with women and then with men.

at Tabari narrated:

حدثني المثنى قال، حدثنا إسحاق قال، حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال، أخبرنا الحسن بن عمارة، عن الحكم، عن مجاهد، عن ابن عباس في قوله: ( إنهم أناس يتطهرون ) ، قال: من أدبار الرجال ومن أدبار النساء

Ibn Abbas said:

(The nation of Lut said about him and believers) “They are a people who want to be pure” from men’s anuses and women’s anuses!”

(Tafsir al Tabari under al Araaf verse 82)

Meaning they used to have anal intercourse with women too, same is narrated from Mujahid. It is attributed to Tawus with weak chain of narrators that he said first they started doing anal intercourse with women and after 40 years they started with men.

 

c Their women were Lesbians and men were gays.

Hudhaifa radhiAllahanho said:

: إنما حق القول على قوم لوط حين استغنى النساء بالنساء والرجال بالرجال.

True saying about the nation of Lut is that women would satisfy themselves from women and men from men.

ذم الملاهي لابن أبي الدنيا no. 154 the muhaqqiq said the chain is very weak

al Bayhaqi and Ibn abi Dunia narrated:

عن أبي حمزة قال: قلت لمحمد بن علي: عذب الله نساء قوم لوط بعمل رجالهم؟ قال: الله أعدل من ذلك، استغنى الرجال بالرجال والنساء بالنساء.

Abu Hamza asked Muhammad bin Ali, Did Allah punish women of the nation of Lut due to the practice of men?

He replied: Allah is more just than that, men used to satisfy themselves with men and women with women.

ذم الملاهي لابن أبي الدنيا no. 150 the muhaqqiq said the chain is weak

Even though the chain is weak but women used to agree with men doing sodomy with men so they were equally involved as the wife of Lut aleh salam sided with them against her own husband.

 

d) They used to make fun of Lut aleh salam and believers that they don’t do this filthy act.

at Tabari narrated:

حدثني محمد بن عمرو, قال: ثنا أبو عاصم, قال: ثنا عيسى; وحدثني الحارث, قال: ثنا الحسن, قال: ثنا ورقاء جميعا, عن ابن أبي نجيح, عن مجاهد, في قوله: (إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ ) قال: من أدبار الرجال وأدبار النساء استهزاء بهم.

حدثنا القاسم, قال: ثنا الحسين, قال: ثني حجاج, عن ابن جُرَيج, عن مجاهد, قال: ( يَتَطَهَّرُونَ ) من أدبار الرجال والنساء, استهزاء بهم يقولون ذلك.

Mujahid said they mockingly used to say:

They are a people who want to be pure” from men’s anuses and women’s anuses!”

(Tafsir at-Tabari under al Araaf verse 82).

 

e) Prohibition for Men and Women apeing one another

Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said:

وعن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال‏:‏ لعن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم المخنثين من الرجال، والمترجلات من النساء‏.‏

وفي رواية‏:‏ لعن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم المتشبهين من الرجال بالنساء، والمتشبهات من النساء بالرجال‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه البخاري‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed those men who are effeminate, and women who imitate men.

Another narration is: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed men who copy women and cursed women who copy men.

f) Anal intercourse with women is same like Anal intercourse with women.

Mujahid said:

عن مجاهد قال من أتى امرأته في دبرها فهو من المرأة مثله من الرجل ثم تلا ويسألونك عن المحيض قل هو أذى فاعتزلوا النساء في المحيض ولا تقربوهن حتى يطهرن فإذا تطهرن فأتوهن من حيث أمركم الله أن تعتزلوهن في المحيض الفرج ثم تلا نساؤكم حرث لكم فأتوا حرثكم أنى شئتم قائمة وقاعدة ومقبلة ومدبرة في الفرج

Whoever did anal Intercourse IT IS AS IF HE DID IT WITH A MAN, then recited the verse 2 : 222 then recited 2 : 223 meaning (you can have sex while) standing, sitting, from front, from behind but in vagina. [Sunan ad-Darami no. 1175 authenticated by Abdul Mannan Rasikh]

g) Watch your children and save them from strangers.

The great Sufiyan Al Thawri said:

لو أن رجلاً عبث بغلام بين إصبعين من أصابع رجليه يريد الشهوة، لكان لواطً

If someone plays with the fingers of a child’s foot and his intentions is to please himself then he is a pedophile.

ذم الهوى لابن الجوزي (ص: 181)، مساوئ الأخلاق” (440)، اعتلال القلوب” (253) للخرائطي واسناده حسن.

h) Umar radhiAllahanho stopped children to even go near the man who did this ugly act.

Abdur Razzaq narrated:

عن معمر عن الزهري عن عروة عن عائشة قالت: أول من اتهم بالامر القبيح – تعني عمل قوم لوط – على عهد عمر، فأمر عمر بعض شباب قريش ألا يجالسوه.

The first to be accused of this ugly thing – meaning the practice of the nation of Lut aleh salam – during the era of Umar, so Umar ordered some of the youth of Quraysh not to sit with him.

I) Punishment of the one who did this practice.

، عن الحسن، ومغيرة، عن إبراهيم، قال: حد اللوطي حد الزاني

Hasan and Ibraheem both said: The punishment of the one who did sodomy is like the punishment of fornicator. (If he is not married then it is lashes and if he is married then he will be stoned).

وأخرجه البيهقي في “الشعب” (5392) , الخرائطي في “مساوئ الأخلاق” (450), وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة (5 / 497) ، وأخرجه عبدالرزاق (7 / 362)

Ibn Abbas was asked:

: ما حدُّ اللوطي؟ قال: ينظر أعلى بناء القرية، فيُلقى منه، ثم يتبع بالحجارة

What is the punishment of homosexuality? He said: look for the highest building of the village, he should be thrown from it, then he should be stoned.

أخرجه ابن أبي شيبة (5 / 496)، وعبدالرزاق (5 / 496) (28337)، والآجُرِّي في “ذم اللواط” (30)، وابن حزم في “المحلى” (11 / 381)، والبيهقي في “الشعب” (5004)، وفي “السنن الكبرى” (8 / 233)، والذهبي في “الدينار” (22)، وابن الجوزي في “ذم الهوى” (ص: 184)
