Fewer seats for women in Allah’s Paradise

Islamic Scriptures inform us that most Muslim women will go to hell.

The Quran:

Sura (37:22-23) “Those who “did wrong” will go to hell, and their wives will go to hell with them (no matter how they behaved).”

Response

What a misrepresentation of the translation of the verses! They are not even close to what the Qur’an actually says.

The correct translation is:

[037:022] (It will be said to the angels): “Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship.

[037:023] “Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell)

Ibne Kathir Commented: An-Nu`man bin Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Their companions means their counterparts, those who are like them.” This was also the view of Ibn `Abbas, Sa`id bin Jubayr, `Ikrimah, Mujahid, As-Suddi, Abu Salih, Abu Al-`Aliyah and Zayd bin Aslam.” Sharik said, narrating from Simak, from An-Nu`man: “I heard `Umar say:

﴿احْشُرُواْ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ وَأَزْوَجَهُمْ﴾

(Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions) means, `Those who are like them. So those who committed Zina will be gathered with others who committed Zina, those who dealt in Riba will be gathered with others who dealt in Riba, those who drank wine will be gathered with others who drank wine.’ Mujahid and Sa`id bin Jubayr narrated from Ibn `Abbas:

﴿وَأَزْوَجُهُمْ﴾

(their companions) means “Their friends.”

﴿وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعْبُدُونَمِن دُونِ اللَّهِ﴾

(and what they used to worship. Instead of Allah,) means, instead of Allah, i.e., their idols and false gods will be gathered together with them in the same place.

(now please read it carefully, and then decide yourself, the author tried to wrongfully, prove his allegation, which has no place in islam.)

﴿فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَطِ الْجَحِيمِ﴾

(and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire.) means, take them to the way to Hell.(end quote from Tafsir Ibne Kathir)

Where did it say, WIFE to be thrown in hell along with the husband? NOwhere.
The Author is ADVISED to read the translation of QURA’AN from authentic sources before blindly raising points on the Qur’an and Islamic teachings.

From Hadith:

Bukhari (2:28) – Women comprise the majority of Hell’s occupants. This is important because the only women in heaven ever mentioned by Muhammad are the virgins who serve the sexual desires of men. (A weak Hadith, Kanz al-`ummal, 22:10, even suggests that 99{ecb01613692258d40e800a99e4d746e5d13d05ec98d2e9f5c1cfefb6e9fee158} of women go to Hell).

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: The Prophet said: “I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.” It was asked, “Do they disbelieve in Allah?” (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, “They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, ‘I have never received any good from you.” “Among the inmates of Heaven women will be the minority” (Sahih Muslim 36: 6600)

“I (Mohammed) have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-Fire were women…[because] they are ungrateful to their husbands and they are deficient in intelligence” (Sahih Bukhari: 2:18:161; 7:62:125, ).

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Abbas:…The Prophet replied, “I saw Paradise and stretched my hands towards a bunch (of its fruits) and had I taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. I also saw the Hell-fire and I had never seen such a horrible sight. I saw that most of the inhabitants were women.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! Why is it so?” The Prophet replied, “Because of their ungratefulness.” It was asked whether they are ungrateful to Allah. The Prophet said, “They are ungrateful to their companions of life (husbands) and ungrateful to good deeds. If you are benevolent to one of them throughout the life and if she sees anything (undesirable) in you, she will say, ‘I have never had any good from you.’ ”

Response

Women will be more than men in paradise as well which will be discussed later in this article inshaAllah. First I want to clear that this is warning for those women who are ungrateful to their husbands, This is for men also (he should not deceive wife) Let me give you examples

Example No: 1

It was narrated from ‘Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Shibl (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Merchants are the evildoers.” It was said: O Messenger of Allaah, has Allaah not permitted buying and selling? He said: “Yes, but they speak and tell lies, and they swear oaths and sin (as a result).” [Narrated by Musnad Ahmad (3/428); al-Haakim (2/8), al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (366).]

Comment: From this hadeeth, Can we say all businessmen are evildoers and will not enter paradise? Simply no because this is for those who lie in business as it is clear from other hadeeth

It was narrated from Rifaa’ah ibn Raafi’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The merchants will be raised on the Day of Resurrection as evildoers, apart from those who fear Allaah and are honest.” [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1210), al-Daarimi (2/247), Ibn Maajah (2146) and Ibn Hibbaan (11/276), al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (994).]

Comment: Is too easy to understand that Prophet peace be upon him is warning businessmen and traders to deal justly in their transaction.

Example No: 2

Prophet peace be upon him said
“He who deceives us is not one of us,” or, “He is not one of us who deceives us.” (Narrated by Muslim).

Comment: Can we say the one who cheat is a Kafir and will go to hell? Simply no but he is a sinner and can go to hell, Prophet peace be upon him is warning against cheating, same goes to the hadeeth of women, those women (can go to hell) who are not good with their husbands, as it is clear from text of the hadeeth which says

“They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.'”[Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1052]

Comment: So clearly If someone is not doing this she will surely enter Paradise, also Note that, those men will not enter paradise who cheat, and proof for this is.

It was narrated that Ma’qal ibn Yassaar al-Muzani (may Allaah be pleased with him) said during his final illness: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘There is no person whom Allaah has put in a position of authority and he dies on the day he dies cheating those under his authority, but Allaah will forbid Paradise for him.'” This was narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim; this version was narrated by Muslim

Comment: This is a stern warning which includes everyone whom Allaah has placed in a position of authority, whether great or small, starting from the individuals of a royal family. A Mother should not cheat her children, a husband should not cheat his household including his wife (usually a father is a head of house), Everyone must be sincere towards those who are under their authority, and not cheat or deceive them,

There is another hadith which says

Narrated ‘imran bin Husain: The Prophet said, “I looked at paradise and found poor people forming the majority of its inhabitants; and I looked at Hell and saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women.” (Bukhari Book #54, Hadith #464)

Comment: Poor are not only men but they are females also, so it simply means Prophet peace be upon him found poor people including males and females forming the majority of its inhabitants in paradise. And from other women who are ungrateful he saw Majority of them in hell fire.

Lastly see this hadeeth

Narrated Haritha bin wahb Al-Khuzai: I heard the Prophet saying. “May I tell you of the people of Paradise? Every weak and poor obscure person whom the people look down upon but his oath is fulfilled by Allah when he takes an oath to do something. And may I inform you of the people of the Hell-Fire? They are all those violent, arrogant and stubborn people.” (Bukhari Book #60, Hadith #440)

Comment: So again this is stern warning for those males and females who are violent, arrogant and stubborn people.

Lastly, Women will be more than men in paradise as well

Muhammad reported that some (persons) stated with a sense of pride and some discussed whether there would be more men in Paradise or more women. It was upon this that Abu Huraira reported that Abu’l Qasim (the Holy Prophet) (ﷺ) said:
The (members) of the first group to get into Paradise would have their faces as bright as full moon during the night, and the next to this group would have their faces as bright as the shining stars in the sky, and every person would have two wives and the marrow of their shanks would glimmer beneath the flesh and there would be none without a wife in Paradise.
Reference : Sahih Muslim 2834

Imam Ibn Katheer said in al Nihaya fe al Fitan wal Malaham (النهاية في الفتن والملاحم ) page 144 that:
فالمراد من هذا أن هاتين من بنات آدم ، ومعهما من الحور العين ما شاء الله عز وجل ، كما تقدم تفصيل ذلك آنفاً ، والله أعلم .
“The meaning of this is those will be among the daughters of Adam aleh salam, and with them are wide-eyed maidens as Allah the Almighty wishes, as its details are discussed before ”
This does not contradict the hadith which states women will be less than men in paradise because the scholars answered

Now i am quoting the answers of those who already replied these anti Islamic people on this hadeeth

The Muhadditheen (experts in Hadith) have resolved this apparent contradiction through the following explanations:

1. These Ahaadith are clear that females in Jannah and Jahannum will outnumber males by a great margin. (Sharh al-Nawawiy vol.9 pg.170)

2. The women could be more in Jahannam and less in Jannah at the beginning. Thereafter, when they are cleansed of their sins or when intercession on their behalf is accepted, they would be entered into Jannah and they would outnumber the men there too. (Fath al-Baari vol.6 pg.401; Hadith3246 – Sifatul Jannah of Hafiz ibn Katheer pg.130)

3. The Ahaadith that indicate the women as the major inhabitants of Jahannam refer to that time when Rasulullah [Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam] had physically seen Jannah and Jahannam. They do not mention that it will always remain like that. (Faydhul Baari and Malfoozaat-e-Kashmiri vol.4 pg.244)

d) Replied by Br Bassam Zawadi

First of all the fact that women are the majority of hell is not offensive. Because if the hadith said that men were the majority, then everyone is going to shout that that is offensive as well. So people like Ali Sina expect there to be an exact number of women and men in hell. This is silly.

Secondly, the hadith doesn’t say that they would be in hell due to their gender, but due to their sins. Thus, how is this degrading to women?

Thirdly, if the ratio of women to men here on planet earth is larger, then it is only logical that the ratio of women to men in hell would also be larger.

Go to this site and check out the ratio of women to men in every country. You will see that most of them are larger.http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/

Also read this and this.

Now for a women to disobey her husband is not a trivial issue. It is indeed a serious sin. Even if a Muslim man mistreats his wife, this is indeed a serious sin.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3358Narrated by AbuBakr as-SiddiqThe Prophet (saws) said, “One who treats badly those under his authority will not enter Paradise .”The wisdom behind the statement of the Messenger of Allah (saws) warning the believing woman was not to belittle or demean the role of women, but rather a warning and a guidance to make sure they fulfill their part in developing peace, harmony and tranquility in their marriage; and Allah is our witness sister, nothing is more hurtful to men than to hear these words from their wives after a lifetime of sacrifices that ”I have never received any good from you!”http://www.call-to-monotheism.com/rebuttal_to_ali_sina_s_article__did_women_s_status_improve_with_islam__
